Texas Fun: Days 5 & 6

For the last part of our trip to good ol' Texas, Chris and I took a road trip of our own to Galveston. It was interesting to see the destruction of Ike. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed some time near the coast.
Our first stop was the aquarium. It was rather noticeable that Galveston tourism stats are pretty low these days; we had the place to ourselves. The penguins must have felt the lack of visitors because they were certainly willing to give us a quality show! We loved those funny little ones and they easily became our favorite exhibit.

We learned that baby girl is about the size of a 'fairy' penguin.

This was pretty much the sight of every pier. Please note the sign on the right and then the visual straight ahead: Nothing!

We couldn't resist the big waves, so Chris pulled out the surf board...
Okay, not really....but this totally would have been him, had we boards with us. Instead we just watched "orange boy" in awe.
Not a normal place for a truck....we blame Ike.
We also enjoyed a ferry ride...

And some sightseeing...

Driving past Ellington field we were stuck in traffic waiting for a fire truck to make his way through the freeway. The wait resulted in a perfect view of two F-16's taking off from Ellington field. This of course was enough reasoning to convince my love that we needed to stop on the way home and check out some planes....it's a pilot thing. ;)
And the thought of going home just doesn't sound right....thanks for the great visit "Texas" Fam. :) We love you guys!

I love the penguins, too. I could watch them waddle for hours. Your pregnant belly is cute. You're almost there!
